Principal's Report
Dear Parents/Carers,
Father’s Day event
Thanks so much to everyone (Mums, Teachers, Grandparents and older siblings and more!) who worked so hard to make our Father’s Day Sausage Sizzle and Games afternoon such a big success. We had lovely weather and a HUGE turnout! Some snapshots are included later in the newsletter.
Family Prayer Night
Last night we held a Family Prayer Night where many of the Confirmation Family Groups attended. It was a truly beautiful and reflective experience based on the gift of ‘courage’. Thank you to Penny, Trudie, the Year 5/6 Team and parents and families who took part. We continue to keep our Confirmation Candidates and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
Will Lipscombe Memorial Art Award
This year the Will Lipscombe Memorial Art Award will take on a Christmas theme. We will be launching the Memorial Art Award during Friday assembly in Week 8, September 13. The children might enjoy some time in the Spring break to work on their entries. Thank you to Rachel Kennedy who will be coordinating.
Hats on again and Lost Property
The Cancer Council has reminded us that its hats on time again. Please ensure your child has a hat with his/her name on it. We have hats available for sale at the front office if you require a new one. The bucket hats are $10 and the legionnaire style are $8. Thank you to parents who name items to assist us to identify lost property. We really need to encourage our children to take care of their belongings and be responsible for hats, lunch boxes etc. Not an easy task I know! Our Lost Property area is outside the canteen, and we encourage the children to find and return lost items.
RE and Key Personnel Day
Last Friday Father Peter, Penny Vanzwol and myself attended this day with other leadership groups from across the Archdiocese. Archbishop Prowse spoke encouragingly and updated us on World Youth Day and the programs happening across schools around youth ministry. He directed us to a Church Document recently written by Pope Francis; Christus Vivit- Christ Lives
I loved this analogy from the document;
“A young person from the Samoan Islands spoke of the Church as a canoe, in which the elderly help to keep on course by judging the position of the stars, while the young keep rowing, imagining what waits for them ahead. Let us steer clear of young people who think that adults represent a meaningless past, and let us steer clear of adults who always think they know how young people should act. Instead let us all climb aboard the same canoe and together seek a better world, with the constantly renewed momentum of the Holy Spirit.”
Thank you for all you do to help us keep the canoe afloat,
Many blessings
