SCC Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

The School Community Council (SCC) at St Thomas The Apostle is a collective of parents and teachers who meet two times each term to discuss general school business that relates to the school and children.  This includes events such as the Fete and working bees through to agreement on new playground equipment and toilet rejuvenations!

A variety of different topics are discussed each meeting and the SCC meeting last Monday week wasn’t short of some interesting topics, including a possible footsteps disco, the end of year functions possible amidst the current Coronavirus experience and where school camps may be next year.

My role as treasurer is to count the money, although, unfortunately, I don’t get to keep any! This includes preparing a report for each SCC meeting with detail of the most recent finances formatted in a report that interests some and enthrals the rest.  The message I frequently deliver is that St Thomas the Apostle is in a sound financial position for which we are fortunate.  This has been tested during the events of this year, but having adequate funds in the bank and no significant loans has helped us to remain financially positive.

School Council nominations are opening up soon, so we encourage all those interested in furthering improvements to the school, to speak to us via email sccsttap@gmail.com or by enquiring at school.  You can see photos of the current members just outside the front office.

Yours graciously,

Michael Giacomin
SCC Treasurer
