Dear Parents/Carers,
Crazy Sock Day
This Friday 16 August we will be having a crazy sock day. For the privilege of wearing crazy socks, we are asking the children to contribute a gold coin donation as a way of fundraising for Marleigh Fisher.
Athletics Carnival
Thank you to Geoff Ryan for his organisation of the Athletics carnival on Tuesday. It certainly was better weather than Friday! Thanks also to the parents/carers who assisted, including Paula Papandrea and her wonderful helpers for providing canteen services.
Global Schools and Book Week
Penny Vanzwol launched this wonderful initiative at module prayer on Friday 2 August. It’s great to see families and individual children buying a book to support those less fortunate. If you think about it, $4.50 is a cup of coffee. If every family gave $5.00, it would make a huge difference.
Out of Hours School Care
As you would be aware, we are currently undergoing a tender process for our OHSC provider. Thank you to those parents who filled in our survey, we would love to hear from any parents who use the service and would like to have a chat to the sub-committee. Please feel free to contact the front office and we will put you in touch with the team.
Learning Assets
Our next learning asset “I am a Collaborator” is key to working successfully with others, we live in a world where developing dynamic relationships is integral to future success. Effective collaborators are empathetic, compassionate, reliable team workers who can solve problems by being productive.
Anyone who’s played team sports or worked on a project with others can identify that being a collaborator is important. Teaching your child to share, to lose graciously or to give something special to someone else are valuable lessons. If you have a little person in your house who wants to tell everyone else what to do and get things organised, maybe they are just testing their collaborative skills.
Many blessings and thank you for your continued support

Acting Principal

Dress up Day - Tuesday 20 August
This year the theme for Book Week is Reading is My Secret Power. It focuses on the capacity reading has to change our lives by informing us and inspiring us. It would be great if the children could dress up as a character or feature from a book that has inspired them or taught them something important.
Thank you to those people who have already donated money for the purchase of books for our partner school in Kenya. Please continue to bring in your donations so that we can reach our goal of 120 books. Simon will join us in the morning to collect our donations.

Congratulations to Lucy Tokley, Pippa and Evie Jarrett on their recent successes in a cake baking/decorating competition. They entered their gingerbread houses into the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council’s "Christmas In July" competition last month. They spent time designing their masterpieces and planning out their work before bringing it all together in gingerbread and sugar. Lucy took out the teenager category, and Pippa and Evie were equal first in the Under 12s category. Between the three of them, they took away a whopping $200 in prize money.
The same gingerbread houses were entered into the Latorta Cake Off competition, with all three girls securing a spot as a finalist and winning junior decorating hampers. It was announced today that Lucy was a runner up winner for her amazing beach house!
