Dear Parents and Carers,
We are almost at the end of Term 2/Semester 1 and reports have been finalised and will be available on Monday afternoon. To access your child’s report, you will need to log on to the Compass Parent Portal.
For Kindergarten students:
- Achievement in each subject will be reported using a four-point scale (Well AboveExpectations, Above Expectations, Meeting Expectations and Working Towards Expectations).
For Year 1 to Year 6 students: - Academic grades for each subject using a five-point scale from A-E will be reported using the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
For all students:
- Strand Achievement will be reported in Religion, English, Mathematics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Health and Physical Education, Indonesian and The Arts using a five-point scale (Excellent, High, Sound, Basic, Elementary).
- Engagement with Learning statements, which are taken directly from the Australian Curriculum, will provide specific information about your child’s Critical and Creative Thinking, and Personal and Social Responsibility, using a three-point scale (Beginning, Developing, Consistently).
- Individual student comments will not be used in the Semester 1 Reports.
Dialogue is an important feature of reporting. At the end of Term 1 we had our Interim Reports sent home followed by Parent Teacher Interviews. The Semester Report in this format encourages the continuation of parent engagement and conversation about student learning. Parents are always welcome to make a time to meet with teachers where we can engage in genuine conversation about your child’s strengths, challenges, effort and areas for growth. Please contact your child’s teacher directly through email should you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s report.
Satisfaction Survey
Thank you to those of you who were able to complete the 2021 Satisfaction Survey – Tell Them From Me. There were 64 submissions which is an excellent result. I look forward to seeing the results and reading the feedback you have provided. As a school we always strive to do better so hearing from parents, carers, staff and students about what is going well and where we can do better helps us plan for a better future for the school.
St Thomas the Apostle Feast Day
This commemorative day falls in the upcoming holidays so we are celebrating it next Thursday, 24 June. There will be various activities happening during the day, and Victoria is running a special menu in the canteen (see further in the newsletter). On Thursday night there will a Footsteps disco for all the students. It will be an enjoyable day to celebrate the great man of St Thomas the Apostle and also to finish the term with some fun.

RE Week 9 - Who do you say I am?
If your child is part of the Mini Vinnies Team, they definitely deserve a huge hug when they get home! They are truly amazing in their dedication and leadership.

Please ensure that all forms have been returned. A reminder that the Parent Information Night for Eucharist is on Wednesday 14 July (Term 3 Week 1) at 7:00pm.

In Years 3-6, we looked at the significance of product placement in movies and online. We discussed the power product placement has as a form of advertising. As the online world becomes more and more a part of our everyday lives, the need to teach children to make ethical and considered choices becomes more crucial.
