Dear Parents and Carers,
It was great to see a good show for our social event for the State of Origin last night. Although it was a cold and wet night, we had 19 dads and teachers enjoy a night of conversation, table tennis, hot pies and of course, football. Thank you to those of you who could make it along to enjoy the company of our St Thomas the Apostle extended family.
Reports
The Semester One reports will be available through the Parent Portal from Monday 21 June. We will send an email to inform you once the report link is active. Reports will not be printed and sent home, however they can be printed at home should you wish to have a paper copy.
Uniform
There has been a significant improvement by the students of wearing the correct uniform and I thank you for supporting this. There will be an update on school jumpers (full zip) in the report from the Community Council in the newsletter next week.
St Thomas the Apostle Feast Day Celebrations
This is coming up on Thursday 24 June (the actual day is in the holidays: 3 July). We are planning a day of activities to commemorate this important day in the life of our St Thomas the Apostle community. There will also be a school disco that night. Matt Lowe has details of that further on in the newsletter.
Afternoon Pick-up
A growing number of children are being met by parents at the car pick-up zone. This is a very busy, and sometimes congested area which is hampered by parents meeting their children there. Please note, the car pick-up area is a drive through area only and those on foot should meet their children at the stage.
We had another near miss again last week where a parent was almost hit as they walked from their car into the oncoming traffic of the drive-through lanes. Please for the safety of yourselves and the children, use the pedestrian crossing at either end of the carpark.
Kinder Enrolments
I have been interviewing our new families who are enrolling their children at St Thomas the Apostle for 2022. Susan Chant, our Assistant Principal, has been interviewing our current families and getting to know them a little more. Many of them commented how they learnt so much about the school from the Year 6 tour guides who showed them around on the Open Days. They could feel that this was a warm and welcoming school and one where they wanted their child to be part of. This is a testament to our wonderful school community and what we have to offer. These interviews are a great opportunity to meet with families and get to know the children. We are fortunate that so many people want to be part of St Thomas the Apostle School Community. We enrol a family not just a child.
Rug up this weekend and enjoy all that the winter season has to offer.
Yours in partnership

This week we read a fabulous book about a little girl who misses out on the joys of life because she is addicted to her devices. Students across the school were able to have very mature discussions about ensuring that they have a balanced approach to the use of devices.
In years 3-6 we explored strategies advertising companies use to attract buyers. Research suggests that by alerting children to the strategies advertising agencies use, they are more likely to make considered purchases later in life.
Next week students will bring home overdue notices. I would appreciate it if you could please check your bookshelves for any outstanding books.
