Dear Parents and Carers,
It was a glorious warm, sunny afternoon last Friday as we celebrated mothers and special women at our "Pamper and Play" afternoon. Over 240 people came along to enjoy some pampering, a photo shoot, fun games and activities and even playing a ukulele! The sausage sizzle was a big hit and we thank the 28 dads (and a big brother) who helped run the afternoon. We also thank the teachers and staff who organised and facilitated the activities. At the Community Council meeting on Monday, we discussed at length the best way to celebrate these special events and plans are already afoot for Father's Day in September. Thank you very much for all the positive feedback you have provided about the afternoon.
State of Origin
On the subject of Community Events, we are once again hosting our State of Origin Pie and Footy night. The first game is on Wednesday June 9th. We are encouraging all our dads, grandfathers, uncles and special men in our family lives, to come along. It’s a perfect opportunity to get to know each other on a social level. Of course, we are an inclusive community and the ladies are most welcome as well, however, it is an adults only event. We are making plans for how the night will run so stay tuned for more information next week.
Communication
I know there has been a lot of talk and confusion over communication across the school so this would be a good opportunity to clarify communication for everyone.
Compass
Whilst we still have quite a few parents and carers not signed up to Compass as yet, we have decided to cease using Szapp as of tomorrow May 14th. Communication through Compass will go out through the app and email as well. No family, regardless of having the Compass app will miss out on any information as it will be emailed to all families. Please note, the Semester Reports will be accessed through the Parent Portal (there will be no printed copies) so it is presumed that everyone will be using the Parent Portal by the end of Week 9.
Compass Notifications and Email
All correspondence between school and home will come out via Compass announcement and if needed, reminders. This includes the weekly newsletter. Those with the Compass App will get the newsletter there. All parents and carers will receive notifications and the newsletter via email.
Weekly Newsletter
This is my way of touching base with parents and carers to talk about what is happening in the school and to explain plans for the future. There is also an RE report, a Sport report, a Library report, announcements of award recipients and canteen news. There is a Parent Support article, and of course, photos of all the great things that have happened over the past week.
Absences
Absent notifications are sent from parents/carers via Compass app only.
This is our platform for celebrating events in the school.
See-saw
See-saw is used by some classes. This is to share student’s work and classroom activities though photos and celebrations.
It’s hard to believe that next week we will be halfway through Term Two. My how time flies when you are having fun (and learning)!

RE Week 4 - Who do you say I am?
Next Wednesday night at 6:30pm, we will be offering a night of prayer and reflection for all families. The theme for the evening will revolve around our capacity to make a difference in the world and in doing so, to live the life God imagines for us. While the night is part of the Reconciliation preparation program, all families are invited to join us.
We continue to keep the children preparing for Reconciliation and their families in our prayers. We appreciate the commitment they have made to the program and the time they have given to preparing for this important sacrament.
