Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you to those who were able to attend our Parent and Teachers Meet and Greet evening on Tuesday evening. Attendance numbers across the school were mixed. Kindergarten had 56% attendance, Year 1- 54%, Year 2- 69%, Year 3/4 - 52% and Year 5/6 -41%. Overall that’s 55% which is quite good. It was a great opportunity to meet the teachers and perhaps make some new friends. Any feedback on the evening is welcome as we are always looking for ways to improve our opportunities to connect with our parents and cares.
I heard that when asked what school he goes to, one of our new Kinder students replied “St Thomas the Possible!” I like his thinking!
God bless and take care,
Ursula Jamieson

RE Week 2 - Be still and know that I am God
This week our 2020 school leaders shared with the school their individual gifts and how they work towards being the best version of themselves. What a wonderful example this set for their peers. The courage these students demonstrated in sharing their authentic selves was an inspiration to all. When we share who we truly are as people we value the gifts that God has given us.
This Friday we will celebrate Mass together to commemorate the beginning of the school year and to bless our school leaders for 2020. Please feel encouraged to join us for this important community event.
Mini Vinnies
Our Mini Vinnies team for 2020 will be commissioned on Monday 17th February at 2:30pm in the church. All members of the community are welcome to join us for this important occasion. The new St Vincent de Paul youth liaison will be there as will members of the St Vincent de Paul Kambah conference. Our Mini Vinnies team achieves wonderful things each year and we acknowledge the important part they play in our community.
Sacraments
This week Year 3 and 4 students took home enrolment forms for Eucharist and Reconciliation for 2020. These are to be completed and handed in at one of the Masses on the weekend of 29/2- 1/3. Please let me know if you have any questions. Our Sacramental program is an inclusive and supportive program and all are welcome.

My favourite part of my job is returning to my desk to find Postit notes from students requesting that I buy particular books for the library. Enthusiasm for reading for is so contagious and I love an excuse to spend some time in a book shop!
It was encouraging to have so many students return their books this week and to have the library buzzing with excitement during recess and lunch breaks.
I have purchased many new books and am looking for some volunteers to help with covering them in contact. If you are able to take some books to cover please leave a message with Jodie in the front office, email me on Penelope.vanzwol@cg.catholic.edu.au or pop in for a chat!
Don’t forget that the Community Corner is always open to you with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and some great books!
