Dear Parents and Carers,
Registration for our School Community
In the coming week, we are gearing up for a significant event – the Registration Review. This crucial process occurs once every 5 years, designed to ensure that our school fulfills its responsibilities across various dimensions including administration, compliance, Catholic identity, pedagogical excellence, assessment and reporting, fostering a secure and nurturing atmosphere, and nurturing community connections.
During this event, a panel comprised of representatives from Catholic Education and peers will pay a visit to our school. Their purpose is to review our documentation and processes and to see firsthand what makes up our school community. This presents a remarkable opportunity for us to showcase the distinctive qualities that we here at St Thomas the Apostle, are so proud of.
I extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated Leadership Team and our entire staff for their unwavering commitment in preparing for the impending Registration Review. Their dedication and hard work reflect our collective determination to uphold the values and standards that make St. Thomas the Apostle a truly special place of learning and growth.
School Community Father’s Day Breakfast
On Friday morning September 1st we will be having a special breakfast for the dad’s grandads and carer in our community. It will run from 8am until 8:50am and we hope that all our families will be able to come along. Bacon and egg rolls are a big favourite with the dads so that is what we will be serving. Please click this link to let us know you are coming and how many bacon and egg rolls we will need for you family. We are hoping that some of our great mums will be able to help out with the cooking and serving on the day. You can volunteer to help on the same form.
School Community Council message

Please RSVP by Friday 8 Sept by filling out the following Microsoft Form:
We look forward to seeing you at the Wine and Cheese Night!
School Fees
A reminder that Term 3 fees are due for payment. If you'd like to check the balance of your school fee account, or need a copy of your fee statement, please let Naomi know and she will organise that for you.
And finally, I was so proud of one of our students who last week when he came with his mum to ask if he could get lighting bolts shaved into his hair. We have a policy of no extreme haircuts and colours so that everyone shines for who they are and not what they look like or what they wear. I told him that if he could wait until the school holidays, they are a cool and fun thing to have. If you get them done at the beginning of the holidays then by the time school comes back, they have grown out. He said he would wait until then! I loved that he asked and that he understood why he got the answer he received.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson

RE Term 3 Week 5 - "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6)
Term 3 – The Truth
3/4PB lead our community prayer this afternoon. They shared the gospel passage Mark 12:30-32 – The Greatest Commandment. Jesus teaches us a lot of things, but he says there are two commandments that are most important. To love God with all your heart and to love your neighbour as yourself.
“Love of God, that is to say, a commitment to listen to God’s word and to obey his will, makes possible a love of others that transcends natural friendship, convenience and self interest. Love of others is the test of the reality of one’s love of God.” (Michael Fallon, MSC)
St Vincent de Paul
Thank you for all the donations that are coming through! This week we are asking families to donate tinned and packed fruit. Please consider adding one of these items to your weekly shop to make life a little easier for those in need in our community. Children can bring items in any day and place them in the St Vincent de Paul tub in each classroom.

Calendar
To view the Parent and Carers calendar please follow the link below to our school website. This calendar is very user friendly and clear to view on mobile phones.

We have many other exciting activities happening next week such as the soft toy picnic, art activities within lessons and our book week performance. Week 7 is our author's visit from Amelia McInerney so if you would like to purchase her books, please follow the instructions on the flyer below.
In Media Arts, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about photography and how to use the iPads safely and responsibly. They took close up and far away photos. We read the book ‘Bev and Kev’ and will take photos from different perspectives to match the illustrations in the book.
Year 3, 4 enjoyed their Bunnings incursion to link with our read, grow and inspire theme for book week, learning about how to take care of plants and planted their own pansy, viola and other flowers. In Media Arts, they have also been working on digital storytelling using the iPads to take photos of parts of the book ‘Jigsaw’ and then using screen recording to talk about that part of the story.
Please see the photos from the Bunnings Incursion below.
We have a few lost property items that were returned to the book trolley by accident. If you are missing a Harry Potter, Ella diaries or an Underdogs book from your house, please come and see Mrs Rootes to provide more details.
