Dear Parents and Carers,
It is hard to believe that we are in Term 2 already. As I write this, our 5/6 students and their teachers are on their way back from an action-packed camp in Sydney. They did the Bondi to Bronte walk, visited The Rocks, caught a ferry to Taronga Zoo, walked across the Harbour Bridge and also visited Mary MacKillop House. I would like to sincerely thank Tarthra Kennelly, Jessica Salcedo, Natasha Pank, Jacinta Housler and Luke Mooney for taking time away from their families to attend camp. I am sure you would agree that when you have to go away for work, it is not a small task to organise children and extended family to help out. In addtion, I would also like to thank the two fathers who assisted on camp, Shayne Bellato and Chris Tapp.
As I am sure you would agree, we have some pretty amazing teachers here at St Thomas the Apostle. To prepare for a new term, a lot of time and effort goes into ensuring the curriculum, assessment and pedagogy are to an excellent standard. Over the holidays, I think I saw or heard that every teacher was at school planning. This shows their dedication to their profession. We also have three of our teachers completing their Master of Education so I am sure that many essays were also written! Our fantastic Kindergarten teacher Amy Gallagher had her graduation through the holidays and on Thursday she attended a Commissioning Mass at the Cathedral in Manuka. Congratulations Amy!
Due to the predicted rain on Sunday, we have had to postpone our working bee. We will schedule it late in May depending on the weather. Thank you to our Facility Manager, John Cousins, for all the work he has put in over the holidays and this week to prepare for the day, it is much appreciated.
Save the Date Mums!
This year we are going to host a breakfast for Mother’s Day to celebrate all the wonderful mums we have in our community. This will be held on Friday 12 May at 8am. We will send out more information next week.
Ursula is having a truly amazing experience in The Holy Land. Yesterday she visited Calvary and the tomb that Jesus was buried in. It is one of the few sites that has been identified as authentic. I am sure, like me, you are keen to hear about her adventures when she returns late next week.
I hope and wish that this term is kind to you and your families.
Yours in Christ,
Susan Chant

Reconciliation News
I am looking forward to meeting many of the parents and carers of our Reconciliation candidates this coming Wednesday at 6pm in the church for the Reconciliation Information Night.
5/6 Camp Visit to MacKillop Memorial Chapel
I have been in Sydney with the Year 5 and 6 students over the past 3 days. On Wednesday we all shared in a very special visit to MacKillop Memorial Chapel and Museum. We joined together in prayer and learned about Saint Mary MacKillop’s life and work.
It was a privilege to pray at Mary’s final resting place and walk in her footsteps through the house where she lived. The biggest lesson we learned was form the words of herself: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”
God belss,
Jacinta Housler

In the holidays I met with my other school Wellbeing dog buddies for a puppy playdate. It was lots of fun to run around and play with them.
This week I had lots of fun playing in the big pile of leaves that Mr Cousins made (just for me!). I have also helped some of my school friends transition in to class. Mrs Wilson let me help her with the newsletter too.
Love Tommy
