Dear Parents and Carers,
This morning we had the most beautiful Opening of the School Year Mass. As part of the Mass, the Student Representative Council, House Captains and Year 5/6 School leaders received their badges. It was beautiful that most parents were there to proudly pin the badges on their son or daughter. It was so wonderful so see so many parents from across the school, in attendance. The church was full. Thank you to Jacinta Housler, our REC for organising this special Mass.
Thank you to those who were able to attend our Parents and Carers “Meet and Greet” evening on Wednesday evening. We had many new families attend and also many families who have had a long association with St Thomas the Apostle School. It was a great opportunity to meet the teachers and staff, catch up with old friends and hopefully make some new friends. Thank you to the SCC for putting on a sausage sizzle dinner for everyone. This was appreciated by the parents who had a night off from cooking. Our current SCC members chatted with parents who are interested in joining the SCC this year. The nomination form was sent out on Compass yesterday and is also here in the newsletter. Nominations close next Friday 17 February.
The big news today was the unveiling of the new ‘mega sandpit’! This was funded partly from the money raised at the fete and also from School Community Council funds. This is a welcome addition to our “Backyard”. We are now in the process of getting quotes to put in some big cement tunnels for the children to play in and climb on.

A final reminder is to do with the carpark. Please use the pedestrian crossings in the mornings and the afternoons. The car park is very busy and to keep the children (and you safe), we urge you to always cross at the pedestrian crossing.
Have a lovely weekend, it’s going to be a hot one.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson

RE Week 2 - "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6)
Thank you to all the families that were able to celebrate our Opening School Mass with us today. It was so wonderful to see you all. We are so proud of our 2023 school leaders.
You are invited.............
It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of St Thomas the Apostle Parish, invite all families to our first Children’s Liturgy Mass post Covid restrictions. The first Children’s Liturgy Mass will be Sunday 5 March at 10am Mass. During the Gospel readings, I will take the children to the Parish Centre and do some fun activities with them, based on the readings. After Mass, Tia Giacomin and Ana Stewart have generously organised to provide adults with scones and the children with some cupcake decorating activities. It would be so lovely to see as many of you there as possible.
We plan to have a Children’s Liturgy Mass on the first Sunday of every month at the 10am Mass.
Please mark in your diaries:
Ash Wednesday - Wednesday 22 February Mass 9:30am
Grandparent's Day and Harmony Day Mass - Monday 20 March - morning tea beginning at 9:30am
This year Years 3, 5 and 6 will be involved in preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. I am putting together the enrolment information packs at the moment. Please keep an eye out for them in the coming weeks.
Wishing all our families a joyful weekend together,
Jacinta Housler

What a fantastic first week in the library. So many children were happy to be back and excited about borrowing. The Kinders first time in the library had us sharing a book all about books and identifying parts of a book. All classes brainstormed what we could do in the library and there were some fantastic ideas for the year to come.
If your child brought home a green overdue slip, please have a search for these books and return them as soon as possible. We would love all children to be able to borrow and share stories at home.
Please help your child to remember to bring their books back to school in their library bag on their borrowing day as listed below:
Tuesdays: Kinder, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3/4PB
Wednesdays: Year 3/4T, 3/4G, 3/4C, 5/6KP, 5/6S, 5/6H

Hope to see you in the library soon!

Dear Parents and Carers,
I love your support for the canteen, and I love that your children love the food that I make, however please keep in mind the following:
- Tell your child if they have a lunch order or not.
- Tell your child if you order them recess/snack food as they will need to come and pick this up from the canteen.
- Order an appropriate amount of food for your child.
- I understand that you do not want them to go hungry but having 3-4 things to eat for recess and 2 lunches, plus a drink and a frozen treat can be very overwhelming. It takes away their time to play and socialize.
- If you are in doubt of the portion size, please ask.
- Leftover food which gets put in a schoolbag for the remainder of the day is NOT safe to eat after school.
If you have any questions at all, feel free to email me at Victoria.town@cg.catholic.edu.au
Kind Regards
Victoria Town
