Dear Parents and Carers,
This week and next have been assigned for our semester parent teacher interviews. I know that many of you have organised to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress thus far for 2022. It is such an important opportunity to have this dialogue around how your child is going, not only academically, but socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Our teachers have spent many hours preparing for these interviews as they value this time meeting with you. They are also there to listen to your concerns and answer any of your questions.
Assemblies Resuming
As I have said previously, it is such a good thing to see our parents and carers back in the school. We have been having our fortnightly merit award presentations on Friday mornings. From next term, we will revert to fortnightly Friday afternoon performance assemblies along with award presentations. Those students receiving awards will be advertised via Compass on the Thursday beforehand so you will have notice if you are able to come along on the Friday.
School Uniforms
It has been a very cold beginning to winter. As you would have seen advertised on Compass, we now have school beanies available to purchase from the front office. They are only $10 and come in both royal and navy blue. They are a warm addition to our school uniform. While we do not have a designated coat or jacket as part of the school uniform, please ensure that the jacket you send your child to school in is either navy, or at the very least black, to blend in with the school uniform.
St Thomas the Apostle Feast Day
On Friday 1 July, (the last day of term) we will be celebrating St Thomas the Apostle‘s Feast Day. As part of the celebration, the Student Representative Council (SRC) are organising a movie night at school on Wednesday of that week, 29 June. Students will be invited to come along in their pyjamas and bring a pillow and blanket to watch a family friendly movie. Hot chocolate and popcorn will also be available on the night. The movie will begin at 6:30pm and will be finished by 8 o’clock. More information will be sent out next week on both of these events.
Enjoy the weekend ahead.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson
Principal
RE Week 8 - Our Common Home - Connecting with Each Other
This week students were given a challenge during community prayer. They were asked to show acts of love and kindness to others without expecting anything in return. In Luke 6:27-36, Jesus gives us this challenge. He explains all of us are capable of loving people who love us. Our focus this week is to be kind to everyone, including those who are different to us and in the interactions we can find challenging.
