Dear Parents and Carers,
And so we come to the end of the 2021 school year, a year of challenges for not only our school community but the whole of the world. I would like to thank all our parents and carers for making St Thomas’ the best it could be, considering what we have had to deal with this year. I admire the commitment you have to our school and for all your support and efforts in ensuring that we maintain the positive feeling that is so evident at this beautiful school.
It is a sad day for us as we farewell Penny Vanzwol. She will be dearly missed by us all. We had a beautiful send off for her this morning. I am very pleased to announce that Mr Geoff Ryan will be Acting REC for 2021. Geoff is not new to this position and we know that his faith and dedication to teaching will hold him in good stead for this role. As Geoff will be REC, he will not be teaching in Year 3 /4 with Angela Bartkowiak. However I am pleased to let you know that Mr Mark Bazzana will teach the class on a Thursday for at least the first term and possibly longer. Mark is well known to the community here, as he was a coordinator on staff for many years.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a genuine and heartfelt thank you to the members of our SCC. They are a dedicated group of parents who want the best for this school. I would like to say special thank you to our departing member Liz Grellman and Katherine Hellwig. Thank you also to the rest of the SCC team for your work this year: Carl Jenkins, Mike Giacomin, Corinne Smith, Edwina Wundersitz, Alex Kalinowski, Virginia Wilson, Susan Chant and Anne Barbic. You are wonderful people.
To our amazing students, who are the reason why we do what we do. You show care, concern and kindness on a daily basis and with that, there is a good dash of humour. You are a great bunch of kids!
To our wonderful staff. I thank you for all your hard work throughout the year. You are certainly a dedicated and professional group of educators.
To all the families of our St Thomas the Apostle School Community, I wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas. To our departing families, I wish you a prosperous and happy future and to our returning families, I look forward to seeing you all again in 2022. Let’s hope and pray it’s a good one!
God bless,
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson
