Dear Parents and Carers,
I almost spoke too soon last week saying how lucky we are not to have had an exposure of COVID 19 here at school. Although it was a reality check on Sunday of how easily COVID can enter a community, we have had no more positive cases reported and we are hopeful that this will remain the case, particularly for those in our community who remain in quarantine until next Friday. Of course, I will keep you updated should anything change.
The next three weeks will be busy especially with Confirmation, Year 6 Graduation and other events such as Kinder Orientation postponed due to restrictions. We will do everything we can to ensure they do occur.
Teachers are now well into assessing the learning from the semester and writing the End of Semester Reports. Many parents have already booked in for Parent Teachers Interviews. Being on TEAMs can be a positive. With the conversations taking place from home or work, time options and accessibility are improved. If you haven’t already done so, please book your time. There has never been a more important time for these interviews to take place than this year, after a full time of Remote Learning.
By next week, all staffing for 2022 should be sorted and I will be able to tell you the teachers for 2022. Teachers have already spent a significant amount of time working out the class structures for next year, taking into consideration all aspects of what the students need and ensuring an even spread across the classes of gender, learning needs etc.
Our Christmas Party Fun Day for the children will be on the Monday of Week 11. We are planning a fun filled, COVID safe day for the children. They were very excited about this when I announced it at Morning Assembly last week.
Have a beautiful weekend, a special one as we welcome the beginning of Advent.
Yours in partnership,
Ursula Jamieson

Confirmation
The Confirmation Retreat Day will be run individually by teachers. We continue to work hard to keep you and your children safe. A date for Confirmation will be set in the near future once our current situation is fully assessed.
Christmas Hampers and Gift Donations
Thank you for those who have already brought in their donations for the Christmas Hamper collection. These hampers will go directly to families in need in the Kambah area. Just a side note, if you are bringing custard, it is the UHT custard please. Presents have also started accumulating under the Christmas Tree (yes it’s up!) in the Library. These gifts will be given to children who are involved in the St Joseph the Worker Program run by St Vincent de Paul. Children supporting other children is a powerful movement to be encouraged. Gifts should be new and unwrapped. The Grattitude Book
Mini Vinnies and Youth Ministry Retreat Day
Last night we held our Retreat Day via TEAMS. It was inspiring to have so many families join us as well as Matt Wilson the St Vincent de Paul Youth Liaison, members of the St Vincent de Paul Kambah Conference and our Youth Minister Joseph. We explored our calling to be a welcoming community and we engaged with some activities around important issues facing our society today. Thank you to all those who attended. It was a terrific night. We are all very proud of the outstanding example set by the Mini Vinnies and Youth Ministry Teams.

Next week will be the last week for borrowing library books. Please have a good look around the house and ensure that all library books are returned. Thank you to those families who have stayed on top of returning books on a weekly basis. This certainly makes the Library run smoothly.
This week in K-2, we looked at animal conservation. Specifically, we discussed that conservation organisations tend to focus on cute, charismatic or majestic animals rather than those such as the moray eel which, while vital to the coral reef, do not look as attractive as a whale for example. We explored how ALL animals and plants play a vital role in the ecosystem in which they exist and should be equally protected. You can find the link here
In Year 3-6, we looked at the issue of affordable housing which is a worldwide social problem. Building on our discussion from last week about creative design, we looked at the growing industry of 3D printed houses. You can find the link here;

2022 Device Program for Years 3-6 (formally BYOD)
On Wednesday 1 December at 6pm we will be holding an online live event that will detail the changes to the current Year 5/6 BYOD iPad program. Although the target audience for this event is for parents and carers of students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for 2022, all are welcome to attend. We anticipate it running for about 20 mins, depending on questions.
We understand that it is a busy time of year, so if you can't watch it live, we will provide information for you to read at a later date.
Please see the live event link below.
Congratulations to Hannah, Cameron, Elijah and Harlen on the birth of
